Louis DiRienzo

~ 2009 ~

Lou started playing football with the Eastchester Blue Devils Pop Warner Program.  He then went on to play four years of varsity football at Tuckahoe High School and three years at West Chester University.  DiRienzo really made his mark in coaching.


In 1990, Coach DiRienzo was named Head Football Coach at NRHS.  Under his tenure, the Huguenots have won ten League Championships, six Sectional Titles and went to the State Championships three times, winning the coveted title in 2003.  Lou has received many honors including Section 1 Coach of the Year, Gannett Newspaper Coach of the Year, NYS Coaches Association Coach of the Year and National Football Foundation Coach of the Year.

George Hirsch

~ 2009 ~

George has been involved with track and long distance running since running track at NRHS and Princeton.  After serving in the Navy and graduating from Harvard, Hirsch began his career in magazine publishing.  He became founding publisher and President of New York magazine.  He then went on to found New Times magazine and The Runner magazine.  George was the worldwide publisher of Runner’s World for 17 years, and also served at first publishing director of Men’s Health magazine. Hirsch is a founder of the NYC Marathon and is currently Chairman of the Board for the NY Roadrunners.  He was given the George Sheehan Journalism Award by the Distance Running Hall of Fame.  George has been a commentator for the Olympics and hosted The Runner’s Corner on ESPN.

Jim Tozzo

~ 2009 ~

Jim was an outstanding athlete, having been an All-Star, Scholar Athlete and MVP.  He was a member of the 1967 Iona Prep undefeated football team.  Tozzo’s greatest gift was to grow the sport he loved.  He helped start the Iona Prep Hockey Program, along with growing the New Rochelle Youth Hockey Program from one team to 8 travel teams, 6 in-house teams and 3 clinics serving over 360 players.  Tozzo was a great coach and his teams had success at all levels; his travel teams have won 3 NYS Championships and 22 Hudson Valley League Championships and the NRHS team has over 300 wins with 4 Sectional Titles and has advanced to the state tourney 4 times.  Coach Tozzo was a 4-timeWRIIHL Coach of the Year and received the prestigious Monroe Sachs Award, among other awards.
