Cheerleaders excel at the 2012 Empire State Classic Championship.
Our Jr. Midget and Midget Cheerleaders excel at the 2012 Empire State Classic Championship.
Not even Hurricane Sandy stopped these Cheerleaders from stepping to the mat and showed their stuff. Our Jr. Midget Cheerleaders were short in participants but large in talent and skill. They had to create a new routine to fit the number of cheerleaders in attendance and did a fantastic job. Those in attendance were aware of the devastation these young ladies left behind - and the hurdles they had to overcome - to make it to Syracuse. They placed 2nd in Empires and for some it may have been short - but for those in attendance it was a feat that many will never forget.
The energy and creative of our Jr. Midget Cheerleaders - gave an extra boost of energy and excitement to our Midget Cheerleaders - who won the 2012 Empire State Classic Championship. Their routine got off to a great start – then hit a few bumps but they remained under control and steadfast. Then finished their routine as if each and everyone of them said heck – lets go for it and have some fun – YEA!
Both of our Cheer Squads were the only Teams from Rockland County - so not only were they representing the Valley Cottage Indians - they were also representing Rockland County Pop Warner - and what a performance they put on.
As stated our Cheerleaders were "Feeling It" and they inspired each other to perform their bests. These young ladies did a lot more than cheer on this day. Their spirit, drive and determination - along with the support of their families and coaches took them to another level. There is no quitting in these ladies.
To appreciate it - you had to be there.
To understand it - you had to be there.
To see it in all its splendor and glory - you had to be there.
Great job Cheerleaders - you are the BEST!
And thank you for taking the this journey together.
Congratulations to our Cheerleaders. Our Cheer Squads (Jr. Peewee, Peewee, Jr. Midget and Midgets) advanced to the 2012 Pop Warner Eastern Region Championships.
What a performance by our Cheerleaders as they stepped, danced, jumped and flipped before the crowd and judges.
Our Cheer Squads performance advances them to the following:
Saturday, Nov 17th (Jr. Peewee and Jr. Midget) - Eastern Region Championship (8am) Trenton, NJ (Sun Bank Arena)
Sunday, Nov 18th (Peewee and Midget) - Eastern Region Championship (8am) Trenton, NJ (Sun Bank Arena)
If you missed this one you have one more chance after the Empire State Classic Cheer Championship (Nov 4th in Syracuse NY) to see their performance again - as they attempt to reach the finial step up the ladder to Disney and a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
What a tremendous honor and achievement for our children, their coaches, parents and Association.
HEY! All you Indian Fans – Stand Up and Clap Your Hands… Job well done cheerleaders and we wish you much luck and success as you take the next step in Regional Competitions as well as the Empire State Classic.
Cheerleaders win Rockland County Championship advance to Qualifier
Congratulations to our Cheerleaders. Our Cheer Squads (Jr. Peewee, Peewee, Jr. Midget and Midgets) became the 2012 Rockland County - Small PW2 Division Champions.
The placement of our Cheer Squads in Rockland advances them to the following:
Sunday, Oct 28th - Northeast Qualifier (8am) Trenton, NJ (Sun Bank Arena)
Sunday, Nov 4th - Empire State Classic (8am) Syracuse, NY
What a day. On Saturday the Cheer squads of Rockland County performed before a standing room only crowd in both the 12pm and 3:30PM Sessions. The Cheer Competition of Rockland County showcased 19 squads in the 12PM session and 13 squads in the 3:30PM Session.
Our Tiny Mite and Mitey Mite cheerleaders performed beautifully and flawlessly. What you saw during the weeks in August - was not what the crowd saw on Saturday. They saw 5 thru 9 year olds perform at a level at least a couple of years ahead of their time. The Cheerleaders and ours as well dazzled everyone with their flips, tumbles, pyramids and dance routines. Their routines and precession was a thing of beauty. And these young ladies just opened the door for things to come at the 5PM session.
It really left me speechless as well as expressing a few other words of joy, excitement and amazement that I shared with their coaches, directors and anyone in earshot of my bravado. The attitude, spirit, and "yea I'm here" performance that our children displayed was outstanding.
Each and everyone one of our children steped up to the plate and "knocked it out of the ball park". If you were not there you missed one heck of a show and performance by all of the cheer squads in Rockland County. But you still have another chance of seeing them on October 28th and/or November 4th.
And in the words of our cheerleaders and their coaches - "you ain't seen nothing yet."

Our Cheerleaders are the 2011 Empire State Classic Champions:
That’s right our Cheerleaders took the crown at every level. It was a sight to behold and a pleasure to see them Perform before the thousands in attendance at the SECFU Arena on the campus of University of Albany. The
Jr. Pewees started the race – short one cheerleader but was not to be out down and as they completed their Performance passed the baton to the Peewees.
The Peewees approached the mat and performed a flawless routine – that took your breath away. They were on point, precise, diligent and raised the bar. As they turned the corner they too passed the baton to the Jr. Midgets.
Not to be out done AND “FEELING IT” the Jr. Midgets was inspired by the performance of their younger siblings and closed the show with a performance that combined the drive, determination and spirit of the Jr. Peewee and Peewees as well adding a little something their coaches instilled in them. The desire and drive to exceed expectations – to have fun and reach for the sky.
You would have been proud of them. And let’s not forget the work and support of their Coaches, Business Mangers and Director.
Please join me in congratulating the 2011 Empire State Classic Champions:

National Cheer & Dance Championships
For a Cheerleading or Dance squad, the difficult road to the national championship is quite similar to that of the Football teams’. A spirit squad will showcase their best (2:30) two minute and thirty second routine complete with music and cheering at a league championship level. The top 2 squads advance to regional competition in each small, medium and large category, Novice, Intermediate and Advanced.
The 2011 Pop Warner Super Bowl and National Cheer & Dance Championships will take place from Saturday, December 3rd through Saturday, December 10th at ESPN Wide World of Sports™ Complex.

VCI was more than just close to sending two sqauds to the National Championships. Our Jr. Midget Cheerleaders scored the Highest of all Jr. Midget Novice Cheer Squads regardless of Squad size. And our Jr. Peewee Cheerleaders missed 2nd place and a trip to Disney for the National Championship by .17 points...that is less than 1/4 of a point. And if you were there you too would have been impressed and very proud of how our Cheerleaders performed. Regardless of what happened - Our Cheerleaders and their Coaches and Business Managers deserve a tremendous round of applause for a job well done. And you know what - our Peewee Cheerleaders were not there - but if you would have seen their routine in Albany at the Empire State Classic - they too would have scored very well against their respective counter parts.
So Cheerleaders, Coaches, Business Managers - parents and friends - stand proud and keep your head up. It was truly an honor and a pleasure seeing your progress as you went from week to week and competition to competition. And for just 2 1/2 minutes ---- 150 seconds you gave your all and left it on the mat. And guess what - our little ladies the Flag/Mites or Tiny/Mites knocked the ball out of the park in Monroe - when they stepped to the floor. What we lacked in numbers this year - we made up for it in Heart - Desire - and that never say die attitude. And in the words of a young man on the Jr. Peewee Football Team - "We are and will always be VCI......"
Thank you all and look forward to your continued support as are Jr. Midget Cheer Sqaud compete for the National championship in Disney Wide World of Sports (orlando Florida) and our Midget Football Team competes for the Empire State Classic Championship.
And also - a big thank you to you for your continued support.

Completed application must be returned to Carol Cifuni or Donna Principe by October 21st.
In 2010, over 400,000 kids participated in Pop Warner. As our numbers once again reached record levels, 280+ First Team members, over 5,000 Second Team members and 2,000+ Honorable Mention scholars were named as Academic All-Americans at the National Level for 2008-2009.
The PWLS All-American Program requires a minimum 96% grade point average to apply for All-American status. The injury that derailed Donald Davis' run at school history was the same type of play that spoke to why he had such promise.
On his second carry just one week after a 278-yard night, the Nyack senior broke through the Roosevelt front seven and started rumbling down field. He looked like someone who couldn't be tackled by the entire city of Yonkers, let alone the Roosevelt defense. But Davis was caught -- barely -- some 40 yards later by a shoestring, a tackle that would have great ramifications.
Davis broke a small bone below in his foot on the play. He had nearly 600 yards rushing at the time and would still pass 1,000, a total that proved his worth at fullback on a team that asked just as much of him at linebacker. But even this year's Rockland County football player of the year still wonders the obvious: What could have been?
"It's a bummer. I didn't actually get to prove how consistently good I could be," said Davis, an all-section fullback/linebacker who missed two-plus games in a six-game regular season and still earned back-of-the-year honors in the competitive League A-South. "If I didn't get hurt, who knows what would've happened."
John Castellano knows. The Indians coach believes his 5-foot-11, 220-pound star could have challenged the program single-season rushing record held by Jermaine Harris, whose personal best was 1,436 yards. Davis was on pace to smash that mark but the injury derailed his chase.
"He was on the verge of doing something special," Castellano said.
You could argue that Davis already had before the injury. He topped the 100-yard mark each week as Nyack rolled to a 3-0 start, including an impressive three-touchdown win before a packed stadium at Rye where Davis gained 278 yards and three touchdowns and intercepted two passes from all-section quarterback Connor Eck.
He wore a steel support on his foot and played a limited role on defense over Nyack's final three games, but a hobbled Davis still left an impact. He delivered another 100-plus-yard rushing performance in a consolation-round victory at Rye one week after Horace Greeley knocked the Indians out in the Class A quarterfinals.
"He played in a tremendous amount of pain," Castellano said.
Davis said that other than some lingering discomfort his foot has healed. He does not regret risking worsening the injury, nor a heavy early workload that saw him carry the ball 76 times in the first three weeks alone.
"It definitely wasn't something where I was being overworked," he said. "It was a freak injury."
"I felt like I owed it to my team to come back, number one. And I owed it to myself," Davis added. "Senior year, you always want to go out with a bang. I knew it would be painful to go through, but I wanted to give it my all. I didn't want to be on the sideline and go out like that."
Davis will wrestle this winter, but his future after Nyack remains clouded. Syracuse and Maryland are among the Division I programs that have shown interest, but neither has offered him a scholarship.
He may opt to enroll at a junior college or prep school to improve his academic standing and prove he belongs at the major-college level.
"I definitely want to play D-I football," he said.
Coach of the year
Joe Trongone, Clarkstown North: In his 11th year with the Rams, Trongone guided them to one of the best seasons in recent program history. With 21 seniors, including five who were three-year varsity players, they qualified for the playoffs for the first time under his leadership and won the first league title since 1973. That included the program's first win over North Rockland since 1979. Clarkstown North finished 6-3 after advancing to the Class AA semifinals and qualifying for the Donald DeMatteo Premier Bowl.
Here are the rest of The Journal News first-team all-county selections:
Offense
Quarterback
Shaquille Gould, Sr., Spring Valley: This three-year starter led the county in passing with 1,439 yards. He completed 57 percent of his passes and threw 14 touchdowns. Gould nearly caught more interceptions (5) than he threw (7) and his success on both sides of the all earned him all-section honorable mention honors.
Running back
Mark Castellano, Sr., Nyack: The all-section runner finished with 875 yards and eight touchdowns, but he also led the team in receptions (10, with two for TDs) and interceptions (4). The two-way starter also ranked second on the Indians in tackles.
Jonathan McCoy, Sr., North Rockland: As the Red Raiders top option on offense, McCoy rushed for a team-best 748 yards and scored five touchdowns before suffering a season-ending injury prior to the playoffs. The physical 6-foot-2, 185-pounder earned all-section honorable mention honors.
Offensive line
Chris Guardaro, Sr., Nyack: In the Indians' Wing-T offense, Guardardo was adept at pulling and trapping blocks that opened holes for their diverse running game. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound senior earned all-league honors.
Calvin Heurtelou, Sr., Spring Valley: The 6-foot-3, 268-pound senior was a commanding presence at tackle on both sides of the ball for the Tigers. Never was the latter more evident than when Heurtelou recorded 19 tackles and forced a fumble in his final two games.
Shane Hovorka, Sr., Tappan Zee: This guard helped pave the way to over 2,000 rushing yards for the Dutchmen, who won the Class A independent league championship. He also led the team in tackles per game (8.4), and recorded eight tackles for loss. Division III programs Hartwick, Ithaca and Widener are among his possible college destinations.
Maxim Ngolla, Sr., Nyack: This imposing 6-foot-3, 290-pound senior played tackle on both sides of the ball. He earned League A-South lineman of the year and all-section honors. Villanova, Lafayette, Fordham and Byrant are among the schools that have recruited Ngolla.
Phil Stark, Sr., Clarkstown North: Trongone called this 6-foot-2, 225-pound all-section center the "heart" of his offensive line. The senior led the running game to six games of 250-plus yards -- four of them 300-plus -- and was named his league's lineman of the year.
Tight end
Gavin Maher, Sr., North Rockland: At 6-foot-3, 230, Maher has the size and talent to follow his brothers into the college ranks, whether it's at tight end or along the defensive line. He excelled at both as a returning starter for the Red Raiders, earning himself all-section honors.
Wide receiver
Nick Burns, Sr., Suffern: The all-section receiver contributed in multiple areas. He caught 25 passes for 430 yards and five touchdowns, including an 85-yard score. He also averaged 26 yards on kickoff returns, and, for good measure, scored on four two-point conversion plays.
Defense
Defensive line
John Johnson, Sr., Spring Valley: The 6-foot-3, 225-pound defensive end stopped the run and the pass. He finished with 39 tackles, including a season-best 10 against Rye. Johnson also recorded seven sacks, recovered two fumbles and forced another for the Tigers.
Ryan Leonard, Sr., Clarkstown South: The 5-foot-11, 240-pounder played nose guard and defensive end. His versatility helped him average 6.5 tackles and 1.5 sacks a game, good enough to earn all-section honorable mention honors and attract interest from several Division III colleges.
Vincent Porcelli, Sr., Clarkstown North: Despite his assignment to clog the middle, the 5-foot-10, 235-pound senior still made 31 tackles and recorded two sacks. He was a three-year varsity starter who never missed a game and was picked to play in Section 1's Senior Bowl.
Linebackers
John Brezovsky, Sr., Nanuet: The all-section linebacker recorded a team-high 76 tackles and four sacks, and also recovered two fumbles, blocked two kicks and intercepted two passes. Brezovsky, a tight end, also led the team in receptions (17), receiving yards (403) and total touchdowns (6) despite playing two games with a broken hand. He earned co-lineman of the year honors in the Golden Knights' league.
Dan Macalena, Sr., Clarkstown North: This all-section short-yardage back also ranked second on the Rams with 51 solo tackles and four sacks. He rushed for 423 yards and six touchdowns on 97 carries, and served key roles on special teams. The 5-foot-9, 165-pounder was picked for the Section 1 Senior Bowl and has drawn interest from Division II and III colleges.
Vernald Pauyo, Sr., Ramapo: At 5-foot-10, but a solid 215 pounds, Pauyo anchored the Gryphons defense, averaging 12 tackles per game. The all-section linebacker also recorded five sacks, blocked three field goals and blocked three punts. He has attracted interest from several Division II colleges.
Charlie Regalbuto, Sr., Clarkstown North: This tackle machine led the Rams with 77 solo tackles and four sacks. He recorded two straight games of 15 tackles and followed it with an 11-tackle night. His performance was rewarded with an all-section honorable mention pick and a spot in the Section 1 Senior Bowl.
Colton Reitzes, Sr., North Rockland: Reitzes led the Red Raiders in solo tackles (58) and assists (51), for a total of 109 tackles in nine games. He also recorded four tackles for loss. The performance earned the 5-foot-10, 170-pound senior all-section honors.
Defensive backs
Kyle Hanney, Sr., Nanuet: This two-way starter earned all-section honors. He was the team's top cover corner and supported the run, as evidenced by his 41 tackles and an interception. He also passed for 673 yards and seven touchdowns and rushed for 513 yards and four touchdowns at quarterback.
Joe Letizia, So., Tappan Zee: The only underclassmen on the first team ranked second on the Dutchmen in tackles per game (4.6) and had three interceptions, including one for a touchdown. He also led TZ in rushing (712 yards) for the second straight year while averaging over 7.0 yards per carry and scoring eight offensive touchdowns.
Tareek Turner, Sr., Clarkstown North: The 6-foot, 165-pound Turner has drawn interest from Division I-AA and II schools after he rushed for 672 yards and six touchdowns on just 106 carries and caught 12 passes for 168 yards and a score in a crowded backfield. He served the Rams' cover corner, yet another skill that helped him earn all-section and league back of the year honors and a spot in the Section 1 Senior Bowl.
Kicker
Thomas O'Riordan, Sr., North Rockland: This all-section honorable mention pick and kicking ace has received interest from Division I schools and it's easy to see why. Eighty percent of his kickoffs went for touchbacks, and he was a constant field goal threat, as evident by the three he hit -- including a 50-yarder -- in a win over Ramapo.
Athletes
Andre Fils, Sr., Spring Valley: The 6-foot, 170-pound Fils was vital in jumpstarting the passing game on offense and shutting it down on defense. He caught 23 passes for 460 yards and six touchdowns and recorded 52 tackles. He even recovered two fumbles and forced another in an all-section honorable mention season.
Nick Manfredi, Sr., Clarkstown South: This all-purpose standout earned all-section honorable mention honors after rushing for 956 yards and 12 touchdowns on 131 carries and recording 7.5 tackles and 2.5 sacks per game. He even served as a special teams ace for the Vikings, playing nearly ever play at 5-foot-10, 185 pounds.

Who Rock the House - those Indians rock the House!
Our Cheerleaders rocked the house in Utica at the 2010 Empire State Classic. In a day filled with Drama, Confusion, Disappointment, Excitement and Tension - it all came down to and the 2010 Empire State Classic Champion in the Regional Bound Division is....
But before going there let me share with you - a firsthand view.
BAM! Right off the block the challenge was made - first one then two then three - as each cheer squad took to the floor the
Level of each performance just kept going up. It was a cheerleader’s version of "I can name that tune in 3 notes" but now it was getting to crunch time because a lot of our cheerleaders were naming that tone in "0" notes.
As the competitors’ stepped on the mat - with a few due to the tension and nerves - stepping off the mat they gave the performance of their life - with a handful leaving this writing saying "DARN" or was it the word used to hold back water - oh well this is a family show so I'll stick with "Darn".
Each year the cheerleaders raise the bar or as some stated back in 1999 "We Raised the Roof - and you couldn't handle it!" - For those who were not there you missed one heck of a show. These cheerleaders not only raised the Roof, Raised the Bar, our on runners up to the Championship - Peewee Cheer Cheerleaders - gave a performance that was called by many "the best performance of the day" - to can you believe it take 2nd - so we knew we were in for one heck of a treat as the day progressed.
But did I tell you about our Jr. Peewee Cheerleaders - who won the Empire States Classic in their division and class of Regional Bound Teams. They went up against 7 other squads - who they will be facing again in Trenton when they compete for the Eastern Region Championships as well as 1 of 2 slots for advancement to the national Championships in Florida at Disney’s Wide World of Sports "Milk House Arena".
The maybe it was by chance our Midget Cheerleaders was the next to last Squad to perform for the day and just came out and stuck every - step - every routine - and every cheer. This group has really grown into themselves and they just stepped it up a notch with a slight twist and an adjustment to their previous routine that was a little now you see me - now you don't.
Great jobs Cheerleaders - I and so many more were so proud of you. We wish you well in Trenton as you take the next step towards a National Championship.

Cheerleaders take Albany by Storm and advance to Trenton
What a day. Our Jr. Peewees were the 2nd group to perform on the day and their performance seemed to have set the tone and the balance of the day. They had raised the bar and left a message for others to follow as well as their team mates on the Peewee and Midgets to follow.
Not to be out done our Peewees from the moment they walked through the tunnel onto the floor – it was “game on”. BAM! They went off without a hitch or as much as an offline or unbalanced set. Each cheer, step and routine was as sharp as the first. And when they left the floor it was OMG!
Seeing this and feeling it – our Midget cheerleaders just took it to the next level. They raised the roof and each stunt, dance, flip and tumble had purpose and a pinch of “Attitude” that left the crowd wanting more.
What a day. And we still had at least 3 more hours of cheerleading left before the announcements were made as to who would be advancing to the Pop Warner Eastern Region Cheer and Dance Championships in Trenton – for that magical opportunity of going to Disney for the Pop Warner National Championships.
As we reached the end of the performances and the judges handed in their last score cards – the tension and anticipation was deathning. It felt as if hours went by while all waited for the final results. The drawing for the 50/50 prize of $1750 did not break the tension and anticipation while the winner of the prize faded as quickly as the time it took to say and advancing to the Pop Warner Eastern Region Championships in Trenton New Jersey – the very first team that was called was:
“Jr. Peewee Small Novice - from Rockland County – Valley Cottage Indians”
The crowd went crazy – and then when it came to the Peewees you heard:
“ Peewee Small Novice - from Rockland County – Valley Cottage Indians”
And then when it came to the Midgets you heard:
“MIdget Small Novice - from Rockland County – Valley Cottage Indians”
I’m not from California but all of us on the floor looked at each other and said “OMG”
This was an amazing – what a day for both Rockland County Pop Warner as 9 of its 13 Cheers Squads advanced to the Eastern Regional Championships and three (3) of those were from the Valley Cottage Indians.
Congratulations’ Cheerleaders, Coaches and Parents the success of our squads is one of team work, support, cooperation and a dedication to excellence.
Cheerleaders advance and Midget Cheer win Rockland County Championship
Congratulations to our Cheerleaders. Our Midget Cheer Squad became the 2010 Rockland County - Small Novice Division Champion.
Both our Jr. Peewee and Peewee Cheer Squads took 2nd in their respective Division. The placement of our Cheer Squads in Rockland advances them to the following:
Sunday, Oct 17th - Northeast Qualifier (8am) Albany, NY (Times Union Center)
Saturday, Nov 6th - Empire State Classic (8am) Utica, NY (Utica Memorial Auditorium)
What a day. On Saturday the cheer and dance squads of Rockland County performed before a standing room only crowd in both the 2pm and 5PM Sessions. The Cheer Competition of Rockland County showcased 19 squads in the 2PM session and 20 squads in the 5PM Session.
Our Flag and Mitey Mite cheerleaders performed beautifully and flawlessly. What you saw during the weeks in August - was not what the crowd saw on Saturday. They saw 5 thru 9 year olds perform at a level at least a couple of years ahead of their time. The cheerleaders and ours as well dazzled everyone with the flips, tumbles, pyramids and dance routines. Their routines and precession was a thing of beauty. And these young ladies just opened the door for things to come at the 5PM session.
It really left me speechless as well as expressing a few other words of joy, excitement and amazement that I was shared with their coaches, directors and anyone in earshot of my bravado. The attitude, spirit, and "yea I'm here" performance that our children displayed was outstanding.
Each and everyone one of our children steped up to the plate and "knocked it out of the ball park". If you were not there you missed one heck of a show and performance by all of the cheer squads in Rockland County. But you still have another chance of seeing them on October 17th and/or November 6th.
And in the words of our cheerleaders and their coaches - "you ain't seen nothing yet."

We are the Champions!
What a weekend
Our Mitey Mite, Jr. Peewee and Jr. Midget Cheer Squads - competed in the Empire State Classic which was hosted by Mid Hudson Pop Warner at the Mid Hudson Civic Center. It was raining outside but inside the Sun was shining on one and all - as the Cheerleaders from numerous Leagues and Association in New York State showcased their talents. It was a day of the best meeting the best.
Each Cheer Squad - of the two divisional classes (American Division - Pop Warner Easter Region Qualifiers) and the NFL Division competed against similar squads throughout the two sessions of the day. The morning session showcased those squads that competed in Albany at the Pop Warner Eastern Region Qualifier.
A total of 72 Cheer sqauds compt3ed on the day. 41 squads competed in the morning session and 31 competed in the afternoon session. As each squad entered the square circle “Mat” they gave the performance of a lifetime. The cheerleaders showed the crowd many variations of flips and stunts including;
ARABESQUE
TORCHES
FRONT HEEL STRETCH TO ARABESQUE
INSIDE HITCHES
LIBS OR OUTSIDE HEEL STRETCHES
BACK LOOP SPIRAL
BACK STRADDLE ROLL
just to name a few.
Then at the end of each session awards were presented to the top 3 squads. The Mitey Mite Division was Exhibition – but this did not take away from the excitement and enthusiasm displayed by each of every squad at this level. Our Mitey Mites, just like those before them and after them, performed flawlessly with great pride and lots of smiles. They also wowed the crowd with a their own flips and pyramids.
As this writer started out – what a weekend……
When the scores were tabulated and the Champions of each division was announced you heard and the at 12:00 noon the Champion at “the Jr. Peewee Small Novice Division from Rockland County – Valley Cottage Indians.” You could not hear your own thoughts over the cheering and excitement from the crowd as well as the parents and coaches of our children – and this was just the beginning.
And then at 3:45PM – you heard and “the Champion at the Jr. Midget Small Novice Division from Rockland County – Valley Cottage Indians.” OMG… You thought the cheers from the morning session were loud – the cheers atr hgis point were off the chart. This was not only exciting – but a hard fought victory and stamp of approval for our Jr. Midgets. And they know why. It was also a symbol and stance of what could happen if you never give up.
All in attendance were very proud of each and every competitor.
But the day was not over – at the end of the Cheer Event in Poughkeepsie – we had to travel to Torne Valley Sports Complex in Suffern for the Peewee Football team’s game against the very talented Chilli Lions from Western New York Pop Warner – in Rochester New York. What a game. Both teams put on a display of athletics and talent beyond their age. The game was on par of any High School playoff game with the added edge of two opponents hundreds of miles apart competing for the right to advance to the Empire State Classic Championship – at Dietz Stadium on November 28th.
At the end of this contest – the Valley Cottage Indians Peewee teams matched the results of their Cheer Squads that occurred earlier in the day. They too dazzled the crowd with their speed and tenacity on both sides of the ball.
And when you though the game was over – Chilli – strikes back with a great catch and run to close the scoring gaps by 7 points. The onside kick after the score was bubbled and the ball was loose – and as the officials pulled the numerous players off of the pile – Valley Cottage had recovered the ball – which lead to them securing the win.
It was a well played game by both teams and was finally decided when the officials raised the ball in the air – signaling the end of the game.
Congratulations to the Jr. Peewee Cheerleaders, Jr. Midget Cheerleaders and Peewee Football Team. Good luck in your respective upcoming Championships.

Reduce Your Impact on Endangered Forests
tips provided by Forest Ethics
Believe it or not, paper and wood are still being made from endangered forests. Avoid such products by using less paper and wood, and by buying products that are post-consumer recycled and/or from Forest Stewardship Council certified forests.
Businesses can provide guidance to their employees and suppliers by adopting a sustainable wood and paper procurement policy.
Climate changes also threatens forest ecosystems—and deforestation and other logging contribute roughly 20% of global greenhouse gas emissions. You can help by reducing your carbon footprint and supporting more effective climate policies.

Peewee Football Team 2007 Empire State Classic Champions
Football teams continue winning ways - making for a fantatstic week for VCI
Picking up where are Cheer Squads left off - the football teams went on to play an exciting game of football on Sunday.
The weather outside was a bit nippy - but the spirit inside was warm and purposeful. The Jr. Peewees played a very aggressive Suffern Mounties team. Both team displayed some tremendous blocking, running and tackling from start to finish. Our Pewees won the game by a score of 27-0, but, the score was by no means was indicative of the game.
Our Pewees traveled across the bridge to play
And then there were the Mitey Mites - playing a very tough Eastchester Mitey Mite team that had yet to yield any point during the course of the regular season. Even though scores are not kept in Mitey Mites this game ended in a 6-6 tie.
These young players carried themselves with dignity and a true sense of fair play, sportsmanship and hard clean football. Sometimes we forget that their children - because when they put on their pads and helmets - they are truly football players in every sense and essence of the word.
Our Midgets and Flag Football teams where ideal this week but both will resume play - this weekend.
Good luck to all as we approach the end of our regular season and a special good luck to those cheer and football teams that will continue their play and participation into post season play.
By the way our Peewee football team has received and accepted an invitation to compete in the Empire State Classic for the New York State Championship. The First round of the playoffs for the Empire Classic starts November 4th.
Congratulations to our Cheerleaders - Jr. Peewee and Midget Cheer Squads are Rockland County Champs

Peewee Football Team playing for RCPWYFL Championship
The kick for the extra point was a little wide left thus giving VCI the victory and a place in the championship game this coming weekend. It was a very well played game with excitement from start to finish.
Our Jr. Peewee Football team came up short to Orangetown Patriots in their quest for 3rd place in RCPWYFL – National Conference. The finial score of the day was Orangetown 6 and VCI 0 . The score however was not indicative of the game and both teams played well. Needless to say with more on the line than wins and loses the young men and women on the field that day gave their all for the ultimate pride.
Our Midget Football team was out manned by an aggressive Bergen County Team that took advantage of the opportunities given. The team did not go down without a gallant effort. The finial score was Bergen County 28 VCI 0.
Our Mitey Mite team faired well against an very strong

They performed fabiously and flawlessly. The competition was very strong throughout the entire day and kept all in attendance on their feet.
Our cheerleaders left the building with all in attendance speaking with one voice - one sound - WOW! You girls were great.
Also, to those parents that rented the private booth and then invited all of the cheerleaders up to the booth after their competition and feed them as well as myself - thank you. Your generosity and continued support from Monroe, Utica, and Trenton has been unwavered and relentless.
And to our Coaches - BRAVO!!!!! What an incredible job you've done for and with our precious jewels. They sparkled, smiled, cried, laugh, and popped. I was floored by their energy, speed, agility and effortless mounts. Their precision was clean and their discipline impeccable. This is a reflection of their coach’s hard work, dedication and parental support.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to enjoy the journey. And as stated by Stacy Anderson "we just have to work harder - wait till next year."
I for one can't wait.
Great job cheerleaders - what a fantastic performance.
